The following is the current status of my recreation of William Bouguereau's "Harvest" updating my Blog post of 5/8/12. This is a project from Scott Nickerson's Master Class at Colorest in Red Bank, New Jersey. This is my test of using my new Golden OPEN modern color set to recreate an old master painting. I have described this pallet in detail in previous Blog posts from 5/2/12.
So far, I am happy with the capability of this pallet to match the classic use of color. Particularly useful is the ability of Golden OPEN acrylics to remain workable on the pallet over the month or so that I have been working on this painting, using the procedures that I have described in my Blog post of 5/18/12. This capability enables me to reuse and modify the same color pools on the pallet and maintain color consistency as the painting evolves.
So far, I am about done with the sky, background, pot, and skin tones. Now I need to finish off the wheat field and give this young lady a new blouse! More Fun!!!
