I have updated my Statue of Liberty Painting since my last post on the topic on 5/21/12, as depicted below.
The main enhancements are the parapets on the base, and significant work on the drapery folds on the statue. Upon closer study, I discovered that I did not have the folds quite right. Also, I wanted to use more of what I have bee using in my various figure studies, in terms of warmth in the halftones to give the feeling of form.
All of these additions and changes required reuse or slight modification of the same colors that I had used in the initial painting. This process was greatly facilitated by my color pool pallet painting techniques that I have covered in previous posts. The reason that this works so well is that my Golden OPEN Acrylics have stayed workable for months on my pallet, using the techniques that I have previously described in my Blog. This made it easy to use or modify my previous color pools of paint.
Another area that I have been working on is the techniques for photographing my work. This seems to be as complex as the painting process, but with the help of my Son in law, I am gaining greater control. I my Blog on this area in the future.
