Drawing is a key skill to successful representational realistic painting.  I have been working on it as long as I have been painting.  However, recently I have begun to enjoy drawing as an end in itself.  I have taken drawing courses at Colorest with Scott Nickerson that have included the use of charcoal, graphite, and these techniques applied to cast drawing and life drawing.

In the fall of 2012, I undertook on my own execution of the Gerome Bargue Drawing Course, which dates from the mid 19th Century in Paris.  I understand that Van Gogh did the course two times.  Many other famous artists, including Picasso, also did the course.  This illustrates to me that no matter what style the artist adopts, drawing is a keystone skill.  It is also a lot of Fun!

Samples of my drawing from the Drawing course are presented in my Blog Post of 12/18/2012 titled "My Gerome Baargue Drawing Course".  Please check it out.
